Commonsense Health Care Reform.  No Cap & Trade

We the undersigned oppose efforts in Washington D.C. that will hurt Louisiana families and small businesses, and we encourage our Representatives and Senators to defeat these proposals and seek common sense solutions.

We support health care reform that controls costs, improves access, and preserves quality, but reject President Obama’s expensive and hastily crafted plan for government-run health care.

We believe health care decisions should be made by doctors and their patients-- not bureaucrats and politicians.

We understand the Congressional Budget Office’s report that Obama’s plan will cost at least a trillion dollars and still leave 36 million Americans without insurance.

We believe every human life has value and no American should have their tax dollars spent on procedures that violate their moral convictions.

We understand that Obama’s plan could force 119 million Americans out of their private plans and onto the government plan.

We believe we’re taxed enough already, and the new taxes proposed to finance this risky plan will stifle our economic growth.

Furthermore, we affirm the importance of responsibly and carefully administering our natural resources as well as the value of maintaining a clean and healthy environment for future generations and ourselves, but we reject the Cap and Trade energy tax.

We believe it is clear that a Cap and Trade scheme such as the current proposition in Congress is neither beneficial for the environment, nor conducive to honest relations between industry and government.

We believe Cap and Trade will force more industrial and manufacturing jobs overseas to nations that will pollute our air at even higher rates than current levels allowable in the United States.

We recognize the secondary economic consequences that will occur if this legislation is passed: the loss of energy sector jobs will cause the service industries supporting our communities to contract or disappear entirely.

For these reasons, we strongly encourage those who represent us in Washington to vote against government run health care and Cap and Trade.

You are ruining our country.WAKE UP !!!!!!

  2. Please do not vote for the Health Care Bill. We as citizens deserve to make the choice for when and how we get our health care, not the government, please vote NO FOR THE HEALTH CARE BILL

  5. Timothy Detiveaux says:

The Obama regime must be stopped from this insanity.

  6. Alvyn Ragan says:

If you like ypur freedom and love your job then you will vote against the healthcare bill that the president is pushing. I will totally destroy this country. I’m a senior and can not conceive the destruction this bill will have on senior citizens.

  7. Dear Sen. Landrieu,

For one very basic, simple, and just reason I most sincerely and patriotically ask that you PLEASE cease any ideological and/or philosophical support of President Obama. The reason by which I base this request on can be explained by listening to an interview of Mr. Obama at the YouTube link below, and/or by reading the writings at the Discover The Networks, American Daughter, Washington Times, and Truth and Consequences links below. The ‘remaking’ of our nation via any disregard for our republic’s constitution (the law), and to discredit the letter and spirit of the principles which formed our constitution is not only wrong, but also suggests an attempt to disregard the importance of human-nature, the individual citizen, and the rule of law. Any election won by a majority vote is not a mandate for the elected to violate the law, also known as the U.S. Constitution. PLEASE listen to the 5 minute YouTube program and read the articles at the links below. God bless you & yours, and our Constitutional Republic.

    Sincerely,
    Chris Jones

  8. Michael Thurman says:

Not that I am scared of the consequences, but this is directly from the WHITE HOUSE website, and this is absolutely chilling. What ever became of the Constitution with this administration? Yours and my 1st Amendment Freedom of Speech guaranteed by the Constitution, is attempted to be slowly taken from us, for the DNC/Administration now are trying to pit neighbor against neighbor to “turn in” each other if you disagree with what is said, thought or what you believe. This “Enemies List” is another example of removing liberties, freedoms and basic rights guaranteed by the Constitution, for which I cannot believe is happening in this country and OUR way of life. This is the “Change” he promised and is delivering while people sleep.

What is interesting is when you read down the page right under the video of Linda Douglass, Communications Director for the White House’s Health Reform Office, saying “be calm, everything is all right” is this chilling paragraph:

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

“There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

Where does this stop? Would it stop at YOUR computer that received a message, putting you on the “list”? Texas Senator John Cornyn has written a letter requesting the WH to cease immediately this effort of compiling names.

Had President G. Bush done this, the liberals would have gone nuts, just as they did when he was trying to tap into known terrorists phone lines. I am mad, and the road that we are currently underway is not the great country I grew up in. What is happening to my America? FIX IT!!!

  9. chris alexander says:

  10. Arthur & Carol Houston says:

    Senator,

Please you are trying to through the baby out with the bath water.
By now it has to be evedent to you that a majority of the people in this country do not what the government running their health care, or anything else.

  11. Charleen says:

THANK YOU FOR TAKING THIS EFFORT! I AM PART OF The “MOB,” (Multitudes Overcoming Betrayal)

I have written all of them with little or no response!!!!! WE do not want Obama Care in Louisiana. And, if she doesn’t start taking up for us – someone needs to run against her! It’s obvious by the bill’s she is supporting and her vote today for Sotomayer.. that she is riding the fence. Please push the 10th Amendment for the State of Louisiana to stop Obama Care! WE believe in Louisiana and the US Constitution, but we need term limits in Washington! What real job has Senator Landrieu Held? All she knows is politics! None of this effects her – she’s exempt! It’s time to pull the Red Carpet and let them see – that they are not part of the MOB. As for Boxer – their isn’t a Southern Lady out their that isn’t well dressed. Where has she been? I have traveled across the US and I am proud to be a Southerner! When you see the social decay across the US – then you can see how these people were elected. But Louisiana deserves Better and We are Demanding Better. The Edward Political Machine is gone! We want more republicans! Keep Fighting for the “MOB! – Multitudes Overcoming Betrayal” IF these people want Social Medicine, they just move to a country that provides it! My family has fought in every war since the Revolution to protect these freedoms and our constitutional rights. Congress has underestimated the People of the United States. They are so busy trying to appease the illegal immigrants and those that they percieve to be interested in our country – that they forgot who is really paying for their health care, travel, salaries, and retirement. And they are ignoring the fact that they have stolen ours. It seems to me that this should be unconstitutional and that why are inviolation to their oath.

  12. Cheryl DeLagrange says:

Please vote the will of the people and defeat the bill to force us to go to Socalized Medicine and get rid of the cap and trade travesty

  13. Gary Gist says:

Thanks for including me. I, like you, am a small businessman and have had enough of the current Congress let alone the White House.

    Keep me informed..

    Yours in Christ

  15. Kevin Marcantel says:

Washington is in disarray. Louisiana is on the move in a postive direction. Let’s get Washington back in the right path—one that allows small businesses to prosper—small business includes physicians. I urge members of Congress to turn down the trade and cap legislation as well as a single payer system. Both of these issues go together. I do not see small businesses asking for stimilus packages. I do not see hospitals or doctors asking for a stimilus package. We can move this country forward, Democrats and Republicans but it has to be done by promoting the number one employer—small businesses. As a legislator, listen to the individuals that gave you the opportunity to serve. It is a privilage and honor to serve—now do the job of the people, listen.

  16. Lisa Braud says:

    Vote NO!!!!

  17. Cici says:

Stop the excessive spending. If the average citizen is not allowed to run up this kind of debt, then why is the government. Just b/c you print money doesn’t mean you should write checks your account can’t cash.

  18. Terri B says:

I can’t even imagine how messed up that would be.

  19. Harvey Honsinger says:

    Mr. President:

One of your democrat predecessors saddled us with a coal fired electric generating plant here in the center of the natural gas producing region of S. W. Louisiana. Now you want to penalize us for the pollution it brings to this area with “cap; and trade” when it is your party’s former leader that pulled this bonehead stunt. Give us as break. We don’t need “Change”- -we need “folding money” to get this area out of the depression in which you are steadily sinking us.

Now, Senators and Representatives- -give this a read and vote intelligently against this health care rationing and idiotic taxing plan of Cap and Trade. Who in the world thinks that putting a tax on something will make it go away? Always remember that 2010 is an election year, and they will continue to come around with perilous regularity.

  20. The Democrats, Liberals in particular are lying to the American people in Unprecidented numbers, there is NO CO2 problem, there in NO Climate change besides the 4 seasons, there is Nothing wrong with using Coal as a Natural resource, it’s cheap, and plentiful, and theres abgsolutly NO Logical reason to use anything else, I cant burn Coal to heat my house, and scrub the emissions, or Run a Vehicle off Coal, but a Coal fired plant can, and do, to force Americans to pay Higher prices especially in these times is simply unaceptable for an elected official to propose. and any Elected official, should be removed from office if they continue these lies about our Climate, or Use of Coal as a Dirty Fuel which is just Absurd, the obama administration and it’s supporters have yet to solve the US Energy situation except tell me to drive less, and Air up my tires…..what a bunch of Morons, the only logical way to solve these problems is to develope any and all energy sources available including Nuclear, yet what do we get from the Liberals but Scare tactics, and Lies………no solutions, just lies and Hate speach directed at anyone who disagrees with them, it’s time to put new faces in elected office, and remove those who are driving the Bus off a cliff..

  21. Harold Daigle says:

Very well said! I hope and pray that Senator Landrieu read the letter and vote in support of the Constitution.

  22. Michael Barron says:

    Dear Mrs. Landrieu

My parents are retired and operate on a fixed income. They are good people that have worked very hard their entire life in Farmerville, La a small town up north. Under Obama’s health care plan they may be considered to old for certain health care benefits and denied health care due to their age. This is not fair and not even human they will be treated like livestock put out to the pasture to die. We are watching you Senator Landrieu do not make this mistake of voting to be a good party member but vote NO because it is the humane thing to do. The Cap and Trade bill is ludacris how can Washington even consider this as a way to stimulate the ecomony. You won your last race by a very slim margin Senator Landrieu I am watching your voting record very carefully and so is every one else in New Orleans.

    Sincerly Michael Barron
    New Orleans, LA

  23. Carrie says:

Washington has gone completely mad! Our country is going downhill and it’s not any former president’s fault. It is the fault of the present administration…trillions (TRILLIONS) of dollars in debt??? Did we know how to spell trillion before now? We want to live under the Constitution, not under the government. We want our freedom back! We want freedom of speech (this latest has scared me more than anything else and I was already scared for our country and freedoms). What next…the KBG?
To both houses of congress: You are supposed to work for us, not us bow down to you!
Wake up Americans before it’s too late.

  24. Ana Maria Gallardo says:

To Ms. Landrieu, please vote NO to the new Healthcare Bill. “We the People” want to be able to choose our own doctors.

  25. Conrad McVea says:

In all my 71 years I have not been as concerned as I am right now. Now the white house wants people to snitch to them when one of us uses verbiage that is against the healthcare bill. What happened to freedom of speech? Some people say that Mr Obama is just young and inept but I believe he is doing all of this on purpose. And isn’t there something we can do about all of these
Czars. They answer to no one but the president and are so far to the left that it would be kind to call them socialists. And the things that they have written about what should be done with the elderly and children. This is something from Hitler’s Nazi Germany and it’s called eugenics. We need to stop this if we can. Stand up Americans.

  26. Lecil Miller says:

The agenda the liberal politicians have been trying to follow must be stopped! It finally seems that the people of this great country are waking up. They understand the “smoke and mirror” moves that have been made have been nothing but detrimental to their liberty and freedom.

Read Mark Levin’s book. He explains everything in detail.

Liberals may be in power and have the majority in both houses, but the people of the U.S. own those houses and can remove the tenants by voting.

  27. Jim Featherston says:

Do we wait until just before the next Presidential election when Obama gives the vote to the illegal immigrants to realize we are losing our country? Or do we take it back from these crooks now?

For by that time he will have stacked the Supreme Court and there will be no checks or balances left but we the people-if we have guns left.

It is time for men of courage to step forth, for the sake of our children’s children.

  28. Sue H says:

Please vote your conscience- there is much at stake and too little thought has been put into the
consequences of such drastic policy changes in such a short time. The USA is slowly becoming the USSA.

  29. Debra Pierron says:

If our representatives do not vote the way we want them to, we should vote them out at the 2010 election. I believe they should have term limits. But since they don’t, we the people can impose our own term limits.

  30. Senator Landrieu says:

You have got to stand up for the citizens of Louisiana. This could be your finest hour if you act against these expensive, ill-advised, poorly thought out socialist plans of our foolish executive branch. The vast majority of our regular citizens are now Saying NO to The Man in the white house on health care reform, cap and trade, redistribution of wealth from producers to nonproducers and the generational theft of our grandchildren that is taking place. We expect you to represent us against this tyranny.

Yes, I said tyranny! Our ancestors fought against an Imperial Tyrant King in England to win our freedom and we don’t need any modern day form of tyranny running our country – either from the Executive branch or the Legislative Branch which you claim to represnt.

I don’t want a forced public health care option. This is a slide toward euthanasia of our parents under the new rationed government health care… with no options to make life better. Read your history books and see that this is how the Nazi Regime came to power in Germany. By intimidating it’s citizens, by asking citizens to snitch on their neighbors and then rationing resources only to those that the elite powerbrokers thought deserved it.

Years from now you may be one of those brought before a Nuremberg type trial to explain your actions because of your complicity with the atrocities committed from this new American facist/marxist regime. Don’t be a part of. Stand up and be a patriot today.

We need you to be for… We The People… which is the majority against this mess.

May God bless you and our Constitutional Republic

  31. elizabeth malone says:

  32. Garett B. Juneau says:

    Dear Senator Landrieu:

I am a Louisiana Army veteran and a 20-yr retiree. I also served in Iraq for a year. I am totally against the Health Care and the Cap & Trade Bill that Congress is forcing down our throats. I did not serve my country and sacrificed so much just to be forced into health care that even Congress wouldn’t enroll in. I suggest you start listening to your voters who put you in office. I didn’t vote for you and I will not again the next time around. Those that did vote for you this past time are starting to look at your voting record. I do not wish to be calling my neighbor Comrade either!!!!

  33. Good Job Senator Appel. I hope Senator Landrieu will listen and vote the way of the people of Louisiana.

  34. James Thomas says:

We have almost waited to long to correct the problems we have with Washington and Baton Rouge. Our states own people who we elect to represent us both in Baton Rouge and Washington care little for those who elect them, only how they can line their pockets and set thenselves up in a well prepared retirement plan which they themselves designed. Who among us can retire with full pay and free hospitalization for the rest of our live except those elected officals after only four years, and I use that term lightly. What we should do is contact our local reprensetatives and inform them we want term limits on all elected officals and that they should act now to see that we have that option. If they do not support what we want lets elect someone who will. I am calling on my local representatives here and now to put a bill on the floor of the house in Baton Rouge this session to make these changes. If our congressman and Senators vote for all this trash that is being put out in Washington let get rid of them forever. Either elect someone who at election time has the same ideas as we do or lets start a recall on those who vote to support illegal aliens and take away the medical care our mothers and fathers need to survive. Obama is proposing GENICIDE for all over the age of fifty-nine. We as american citizens should not, cannot, and I hope and pray to our GOD are whatever devine power we are allowed to get on our knees and worship these days. I really do not know how much longer we will be allowed to that even. I am so mad about all this stuff they are cramming down our throats and expect us to sit back and take it that I mostly likely could write a book on it. Only one last thing for me to say is GOD forgive us for letting people be elected that are making every attempt to increase their wealth and destroy our great nation in doing so.

  35. david Fazio says:

I am a Vietnam Vet and did not put my life on the line for the health car bill which is to destroy out health care now also i am in Medicare now and do not want the president or any Democrat to destroy what Medicare is doing. the Democrat have done enough damage in ^ months. then the last president did in 8 years. Right now you have voted for everything the president wants Sentor Landrieu.you have helped give Billions of Dollars that served no purpose for the american people or the Louisisna people. senator Landrieu do you work for the Democrats or do you work for the great people of Louisisna. In Six months you have done nothing to help the people in Louisisna. Are you not Planning on running for Senator again. that is the way it looks because you do not care for the people of Louisisna.

  36. Toby Lombard says:

It is plain and simple, Vote “NO” to healthcare takeover and “NO” to Cap and Trade. Stop blindly agreeing with the three stooges on every bill that passes through your hands and remember that it is “We The People” not “We the politicians” and We the People have had more we can handle out of Washington. We have given more than we are willing to give to the never-ending creation of social experiments. Enough is enough.

  37. I strongly agree with you Senator and I deeply appreciate the effort you are making to keep government from running our lives. I wish to God that there were more like you. But, sadly, I must say that I think you are wasting your breath. Senator Landrieu has proven time and time again that she is interested in only one thing and that is, filling her own coffers. God forbid that she would stand up and vote the way her constituents would have her vote. I honestly feel sorry for her because one day she will stand before not only a God of love but also a God of wrath. Woe to her!

  38. Chris McDaniel says:

I am a Louisiana native, a voting citizen, a homeowner, a veteran of the 101st Airborne in the jungles of Southeast Asia, an LSU grad and a taxpayer. I am not a republican. I am a conservative. And I am an American. During my lifetime, I have been blessed to have been in the presence of intelligence, honesty and bravery.

I say this to all elected officials: I am damned sick and tired of being steamrolled by all of you stupid, lying cowards who spend your lives lying to get elected and then lying to those who elected you while sucking at the public teet to enrich yourselves as you ignore the Constitution of the United States. I warn you, I speak for millions across this land. Ignore us at your own peril.

  39. Ron Lambert says:

Please come to your senses. Where in the constitution does the federal government have the power to do anything relating to healthcare? I certanly would not like our federal government making any decisions concerning my healthcare.

  40. julie taylor says:

vote No to healthcare ……………. I do not want government run healthcare at all…………… Please vote with the majority of the people not the minority………….majority of the people are sick and tired of being sick and tired of our politicans.

  41. Tom Clement says:

I hope that many of you will be joining the rally in Washington DC on Sept 11. Trying to get 1 million there. Stand up and be counter. This is not just about health care. It’s about our freedom.

  42. Tom Clement says:

Obama wants Americans to report any activity that does not agree with him. Hilter did the same. He had young men walking the streets in uniform and reported anyone that was not falling into step. Acorn, unions and Americor is being requested to do the same. Request from Washington has gone out to these groups to show up and confront the uhhappy Americans at the Town Hall meetings. That is if your Congressmen have the courage to have one. I am just as pisssed at the Repbublican as the demo for not having the courage to stand up and fight for out freedoms.

  43. Margaret Jorden says:

Say NO to government run healthcare and the pending Obama dictatorship!

  44. Kenneth Roy says:

Already I feel like my rights of “Life, Liberty and the Persuit of Happiness” is being lost. I don’t borrow money to pay my bills, I don’t know of anyone who does, it is not logical. Our children and grand-children will be straped with this burden for all of their lives over something they had no control over. We need to fight for our desendents. No healthcare reform or cap and trade, and no more bailouts or stimulus money. Americans have gone through worse times and we can do it again, what the democrats are trying to do will lead us into a full blown depression worse that if they would have done nothing. Mark my words we will go into a depression, or even worse the second American Revolution. When our taxes are due at the end of the year we should not pay them, what will the government do put us all in Jail, I think not.

  45. Doug Johnson says:

I am a fifth generation Louisianaian and a fifth generation businessowner. I am 54 years and I am a patroiate. I want my borders protected from illegals and I want my US Congressional Delegation to put an end to the insanity that is taking place in Washington. I will not stand by and watch my country be lost and will fight at any cost to return it to a sane way of doing business.

Health Care needs to be disected and decisions made from truth! I want deep investigative discussions to take place as to what is the root cause of the “cost push” that has been running out of control. It is interesting that to date I have heard precious little of the litigation factor that takes huge chuncks out of the system. Things like the vicious attacks on the Louisiana Patient Compensation Fund by a small number of trial lawyers. If Washington wants to do something positive they should look into that area and the extreme cost push that takes place in physician medical malpractice costs.

Litigation should be replaced by pier review and only when the review produces substanative results should action be taken against a physician. (Note: Loosing his or her liscense.)

The very notion that there should be limited access to the elderly makes me want to gut the Obama plan to let seniors go without to spend the medical dollars on the youth. This “decision” by left wing radicals has to be stopped.

Also, there should be a law passed to give equal access to conservatitves throug all media. The editors
of all forms of media should fall unde a Federal Law that requires unedited equal access through all forms of media or their Feder FCC Liscenses should be revoked.

Conservatives should not have to seek out single sources of discussion from sources like Bill O’Reilly. CNN and others should be required to report equal and balanced reporting. I beleive that the media is our single most present danger to my freedom and persuite of happiness.

    Doug Johnson

  46. charlotte ward says:

Senator Landrieu is not voting with the people of Louisiana in mind. Retirement is the only possibility if she continues her liberal voting record. No to government health care, NO to cap and trade and no to Sotomayor. I know it is too late for Sotomayor but there is still a chance for healthcare and taxes. It is NOT business as usual in Louisiana any longer. God bless America.

  47. Lee Hebert says:

Louisiana need to remember how we were represented in Washington at our next election.

  48. Gary LeJeune says:

Great letter. But I won’t hold my breath. Good Luck!

  49. Dory Scott says:

    Senator Landrieu:

I sincerely do not understand why it is that you insist on supporting the far-left agendas. Most legislation passed that adds to the entitlement system only serves to destroy the American ethic of independence and hard work. That you would sell out your country to a host of DC thugs by supporting their spending spree just so that you will be assured of a place in Washington is nothing short of prostitution.

Please reconsider what your purpose in Washington is; it is not to gain status for yourself. You were placed there because We the People believed you would sincerely represent us. We are hard-working American taxpayers who do not believe that our money should be squandered on grants for gay bar research or on funding for abortions.

If you continue to vote by orders from Harry Reid, I will do everything in my power to boot you out of office.

  50. E S Wright says:

    This Healthcare is really HealthCareless!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should we get into this mess that is designed for “Lawful Plunder”…….we would play heck getting out of it and putting this great country back on the right road.

  51. JoAnn says:

Senator Landrieu – Please consider the wishes of the people of Louisiana above your party. Vote against the Health reform bill (the people should vote on something this important if changes are going to be made). We have the right to choose our own health care. Also, don’t vote for the Cap & Trade bill. We are already loosing important oil jobs in this state (my grandsons both lost their jobs because rigs they were working on moved to Brazil to avoid new Dem. legislation).

  52. DONNA L REESE says:

    Senator Landrieu
As a registered voter in Louisiana, please consider the wishes of the people of Louisisana above your party. Vote against the Health reform bill (the voters should decide on something this important if changes are going to be made). I should have the right to choose my own health care.

Also. don’t vote fore the Cap & Trade bill. The state is already loosing important oil jobs in the state.

    Sincerely,
    Donna L Reese

  53. eugene says:

This country was built on Christian morals. Our fore fathers must be turning in their graves. Most of the politicians and supreme court of today are so anti Christian. For those Christians who are left ………It’s still ok to say Merry Christmas.

  54. wayne africh says:

As the details of the proposed healthcare reform become more evident my household rejects any one payer system especially by our government. You guys cannot run SS, Medicare, Medicaid, USPS, Amtrak, Corps of Engineers and the list goes on and on.

When Congress proposes a healthcare system that you as a member of Congress will have to participate in then we will have something to consider.

Cap and Trade will be a cost burden to the tax payers, destroy our domestic energy producers, eliminate jobs and have little worldwide effect on CO2 emissions.

  55. Gabriella Romero says:

Senator Landrieu, I don’t know why we bother, as you will vote your party lines and once again you will ignore the wishes of your people here in Louisiana and for the life of me I still don’t understand how you get re-elected. But again here I am pleading with you to listen to the people in Louisiana, where you have a large senior and rural population that will be greatly affected by the entitlement of government mandated health care and the loss of care and services that will be philosophically decided upon by the “intelligentsia” and not by each individual’s moral, ethical, spiritual or religious compass. How dare all of you for taking away this “inalienable right”!
Cap and Trade should be easy for you but alas you still struggle with it. This is an oil and gas rich state and has been since the early 20th century finds, as we have land and offshore fields that have the propensity to help the entire US with struggling supply demands. We need not have your song and dance where you show us a good face and then turn your back on us and vote your party ways, we need you to heed our calls, our needs and possibly you will see that what is good for Louisiana is remarkably good for all of the United States so a “win, win” situation, if that is what you desire, then it will be eminent.
But instead you are going to tax the blood out of all of us, with health care that will be substandard and possibly non-existent for the elderly and something that will NEVER keep up to the costs and needs of its populus, elderly or other and then you want to have us pay more taxes just for the USE of energy to what the federal government will deem “limited” and maybe even restrict private citizens in their usage, but then the poorest of the poor will have concessions, how convenient, keep them poor and needy for you Mary and then they will keep you in power.
Mary, I think you might want to finally read the United States Constitution as I think you have somehow added a chapter of “big government” and “dems will rule”……no one rules this country. It is governed and it is accepted by the people of this country but it is not to be ruled.
Your lack of coming out and seeing your constituents on these complex and exceedingly important issues is very, very telling and I hope even the poor, or am I not supposed to call them that, see that you are not for bettering their lives but for making their lives “status quo”, to live within their mediocrity. Your views of socialism are your views but from one of the greatest leaders that ever lived who understood tyrany waiting in the wings, Sir Winston Churchill, read his lips, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”
Mary, keep your people hungry and ignorant and promise them the moon but you will never be able to deliver everything or anything for very long, but at some point THEY will turn on YOU and YOU will be THEIR target. Are you ready or do you think you will be long gone or beyond their reach?
Remember everyone has a mother and father, a grandmother and grandfather and then you and your children will age, who will take care of them when all of this is set in place. who will speak for them?
I know for a fact how a common health system treats it’s aged, I have a 71 year old mother in Canada who is complacent enough not to bother with the health care in Ontario as the waits are so long and she figures by the time they diagnose her she will be too far gone. Mind you she takes good care of herself and she has never had much money, and had always relied on the “system”. As they told her they would care for her since my father passed away in his early 40’s. That’s what you want isn’t it? People relying on you. Well, it’s coming and their lives are not much less pathetic than hers. She doesn’t want any family help outright but we help. Her own family came from Nazi Germany and many a time she tells me be careful who you talk to and what you say to them as they may come to get you. A bit paranoid, in this day and age? I don’t know? I think she may just have something there! Are you coming for me Mary, or will you have your “brownshirts” decend upon me and my family? Let me know so that I can offer you a bit of tea and sympathy, because that is about all I’ll have left.

  56. Wayne Philebar says:

I leave off of medicar and am on social security because of being disabled from the New Orleans Police Department after I was hit by a person here of an expired school Visa nothing happened to him but I have been fussed from my tail bone to T1 vertabray. The cost of all of my medicans and doctors have left my family in a finacial hole. Please do not let the Goverment add any more taxes to the middle class and do not let them put our country in any bigger hole then we are already are in. Please say NO to the there are other ways just get our goverment to listen to the people who put them in office.
And as for the Louisiana cost line why not use the clunkers with which we trade in as a barrier, take out the engines and transmissions crush them tie them together and make a place in the Gulf for the sands to build the reef to stop the hurricane water and waves from distroying our wetlands and homes .

  57. James says:

Too govrnment officials, stay out of our lives, do what the constitution says not what you think it ought to say.Liberals and immigrants are killing our country, look at England ,France,Germany ,Australia,Spain, etc. Close our borders now stop all immigrations…We don’t need to change our health care system .

  58. RIchard says:

We need to get back to living up to the constitutional statements of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. What our new President is doing to our nation needs to be stopped.

  59. David Romero says:

    Senator Landrieu,

You really need to rethink your agenda, you work for the people, the arrogance you show against the people is just too over whelming. Your party has lost touch with the people, espesially when they start stating, no matter what my constituents say I am voting for this high tax health care bill, you know the one that has low personal care at some of the highest cost, WOW! How come you do not vote to go on the same plan if it is such a great plan, you really have abandon us.

How Arrogant! You have no right to pretend you know what is right for us, we the people decide not just a few arrogant people. The elections are around the corner, we will rise again and take back our nation, THE GREATEST NATION- THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Soon we will have our country back, either you are with us or you are against us. Choose your side but choose wisely.

  60. Nancy Shearer says:

    Senator Landrieu,

As a Louisiana citizen and voter, my wishes is for you to Vote AGAINST the Health reform bill and Cap & Trade bill.

We are rushing bills that have not been properly digested and evaluated. There is alot of work to be done to determine the best course of action.

  61. RONALD MARTIN says:

WAY TO GO………IF THE PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY ALLOW THIS OBAMA CARE PLAN TO COME INTO EXISTENCE THE THEY SHOULD, AT MINIMUM, FORCE ALL OF THE WASHINGTON SENATORS AND CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES TO HAVE THE SAME HEALTHCARE PLAN THAT EVERYONE WOULD BE ON. IF THAT WAS PART OF THE PACKAGE I DOUBT THAT ANY PART OF IT WOULD BE PASSED.

  62. Bobbie O'Quinn says:

Please the Obama Health care plan.
    Jesus is Lord
    Bobbie O’Quinn

  63. Bobbie O'Quinn says:

Please reject Obama’s health care plan. No one is not being treated, there are free hospitals and clinics all over the US!
    Jesus is Lord

  64. Amy says:

Please REJECT this health plan! We do not need it and do not want it! It will only serve to drive this country to socialism.

Obama is and never will be a dictator, though he is certainly acting like one. Its time for all hard-working citizens to stand up to big government and say “Enough is ENOUGH!” We are tired of them driving up our taxes and trying to run every aspect of our lives. The health plan is only another form of welfare and they have proven that they are completely inept at running that system efficiently so why would this be any different.

    Where will it stop!?!?!?!?!?!?

  65. A.J.Legendre says:

Politicans never cared about the people they SERVE,and who put them in office! The only care about themselves, and the power they have! I hope their days are numbered!

  66. Beverly says:

can you not separate yourself from your party long enough to listen to the people? We are saying over and over we do not want this new health reform. We are the people Ms. Landrieu and we have spoken. Will it take more drastic actions before you listen

  67. david coughlin says:

This is America and the elected officials are there to serve us, not the president. None of the programs on his agenda are necessary. He wants control over our lives and you the elected are there to protect us from this control. I demand that you serve us and not this president.

  68. James Thomas says:

Even more troubling now is the fact that the media is just as bad as the politicians. Notice they never report what the people want just they and the politicians have a voice on the news programs so liberally dished out to us each and everyday. The media has gotten so far left that they think that they are the only one who knows what is right for the AMERICAN people. They like the politicians suppress anything that does not agree with their agenda. No matter what we say or do OBAMA and his SLAVES are going to make every effort to cram this awful mess down our throat and there is nothing we can do about it at this time because we elected each and everyone of those thugs. Just maybe we will study the ballots a little better come next election. Lets all get involved and see if there is at least one honest thief in our district. Everyone of them who vote to pass the joke of a healthcare should be served with an arrest warrant and spend time in prison for openly robbing the AMERICAN public. That is what they are doing with no shame nor regret for the untold harm they are doing to every citizen no matter what their age is.
To David I can only say the elected officals serve only themselves. The reason it looks as if they are serving the predident and I use president lightly is because they are lining their pockets with our money. Sorry David they serve no one but themselves. They must think that because we elected them that we are far to dumb to understand what they are doing otherwise we would not have elected them.

  69. Toni Lavergne says:

People seem to assume that only Republicans are against this government-run healthcare bill and other Obama policies. I am here to tell you that there are MANY registered DEMOCRATS like me who oppose this and other plans of the current administration….and we VOTE. Please consider this and vote NO to the proposed health care plan. Thank you.

  70. Eunice Boucher says:

I am very concerned about the economy and especially about the proposed health plan. I am 66 years old and have to have a very expensive treatment once a month. My insurance currently pays for it. I just retired from the State of La. and will be on a fixed income and cannot afford to pay for the treatments myself.

    Thanks
    Eunice Boucher

  71. Louis says:

SAY NO TO HEALTH CARE, NO TO CAP AND TRADE, AND GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK

  72. Randy Rogers says:

We need to take our country back by voting out of office all who support Obama Health Care and Cap & Trade. These are Dictator type policies written by people who crave power. We will stand against the supporters in the polls.

  73. Dean Fields says:

Senator Landrieu– On behalf of Louisianians and freedom loving Americans, I ask that you do not favor any Cap and Trade bill that may come up in the Senate and that you will not support any healthcare plan with a gov’t option and one that will raise our national debt in being paid for. Healthcare does need to be addressed, but not in a way that gives the gov’t an open door into our lives and certainly not in a way that leaves the door open for progressing us toward a Socilalist, single payer system as the current Congressional bill does. Our president has stated that this is what he ultimately favors. BAD NEWS! President Obama, Congresswoman Pelosi, Senator Reid, and the radical left wing must be stopped as these legislative measures in current form are detrimental to our country. Please listen to the people and not the left wing radicals. Our country and our freedom cannot afford it. Respectfully, Dean Fields- Minden, LA

  74. Paul Vincent says:

Cap and Trade is poor legislation. It will force business to increase prices in order to obey the regulations set forth by others. Industy does not need any addtional regulations at this time. Most of La. industry are doing the best to control emissons.

  75. wiley raborn says:

You know that carbon dioxide is necessary for trees etc, and you know that man made global warming is bull,
and you also know that you are too smart to let B O hurt you politically. You don’t need the money, and I don’t think you need the power to prove your worth…do the right thing and and stop the cap and trade..
China is not falling for it, India is not falling for it, please stop pulling the party line and show your true worth to your state, and to you self.

You could be the next president if you would just be honest with yourself and not vote for this entrapment of business. If people aren’t working eventuallty you won’t be either.

    I’m praying for you.

  76. pegpond says:

    Dear Sen. Landrieu,
I email you and fax regularly. So here I go again VOTE NO ON THIS REMAKING (Cause it Certainly is not reform) of HEATH CARE. VOTE NO ON CAP AND TRADE. I vote in every election and knew with Obama running I could not vote for Any Democrat as they would run wild and they have. Lets see who the Leaders of the DEMS are Pelosi, look how well CA is Running, Reid yeah NV is in a world of trouble, The Democratic Party has now become the party of Corruption and Payola. The Democratic party does not serve the People they serve themselves, Unions, Special and Special Interest groups who can make campaign contributions. They try and Run the People it appears that they do not realize we can run ourselves just fine. VOTE OUT ANYONE WHO VOTES FOR EITHER OF THESE BILLS.

  77. John A. Coleman, Jr. says:

We are being strangled by regulation and taxation. Enough is Enough!!!!!

  78. Jim Smith says:

    Senator Landrieu,

If you have read any of these comments, you must realize that the democratic leadership is out of step with the people of Louisiana. If you do not stand up for us at a time when the country needs patriots instead of politicians, history will not be kind to you. You need to decide if you want to be a good mindless pawn in the hands of your party, or actually serve your constituents and support the constitution you swore to support.

  79. Please vote no on the Cap and Trade & Health Care bill. We are American’s…..let keep it that way!
Let us see what you stand for and not to just follow like a sheep, what the head of your party tells you to vote for.

  80. Werlyn Wade Simon says:

the introduction of the Cap & Trade has already hurt our domestic oil industry which is crutial to our nations survival. the drilling rig count in the U.S. is down as rigs move to international areas to drill for foreign oil. this legislation must be stopped as soon as possible to enable recovery to begin. Our Great Nation was founded on Democracy, not the Socialist way Obama is trying to take us

  81. Diane says:

    Leave this page. Its bull….

  82. Ramona Danjean says:

I am not a MOB. I am not UNAMERICAN. I am not a NATZI. I am a concerned citizen that has worked and paid taxes all my life while watching our gov. give away my hard earned money to people that have no intentions of ever going to work and contributing to our great country. Now that we are speaking up we are being accused of being unamerican. All of congress needs only 2 terms–not lifetimes to do this job. Most of them have no idea of what is really going on in the US. They are no longer worried about this wonderful, FREE,country, they are only worried about what they can do for themselves to continue to get votes so they can stay in their nice little world in D.C. I think they view all of us as stupid, uneducated idiots that don’t know how to read and will take anything they dish out because they are oh so smarter than us and we will never “get it” until it is too late. I think and hope that they will be very astonished at their next election fight. And it will be a fight. People are beginning to get the fact that our congressmen are not working for us but for themselves. They do a few things for their states that they can brag about but mostly they are doing for themselves, their family members, and thier “buddies.” Just for one example let me name William Jefferson. He did for his state but he did so much more for himself and family and friends. You can believe he is not the only one with his own agenda–he just got caught. I live in Alabama, Florida and LA and believe me those two states have their share of dirty politicians, ours are just more “colorful.” We all need to stand up for our rights because this congress and president are very quickly taking them away. It is time to let our elected officials understand that they work for us–we are not their money bag provider so they can live the good life in D.C. with their “Rolls Royce” insurance plans, unending money to spend on themselves, private cars–gas guzzlers–private planes–3 new ones for them now–unending expense accts. and special police that protect them from law breakiing that puts us in jail–DUIs being one of them. I am disgusted with our so called leaders and believe that we are going to have to remove them one vote at a time. But if they continue to call concerned citizens mobs, bullies, unamericans those votes will begin to add up and these people will be out on the street. Ofcourse we won’t have their nice fat little retirement plans and their nice insurance for the rest of their lives but then again maybe we will vote people in that will strip them of all of that. It is a pleasant thought and everyone can dream.

  83. Megan Haughton says:

    Senator,

PLEASE say NO! This is not worth destroying American values. If you vote yes, I will never vote for you and will campaign against you! You should be smart enough to know that this bill is aweful. We have no more money to give. Use your brain!

  84. Mark Clark says:

I am a registered Democrat who voted for you, but I am beginning to regret my decision. Please stop making socialist decisions and start thinking of this country. Vote no.

  85. David Huff says:

Just say NO to National Socialism!

  86. Nancy says:

DO NOT VOTE FOR THE HOUSE VERSIONS OR SENATE VERSIONS OF THE HEALTHCARE BILLS!!

  87. Beverly Fife says:

Please do not vote for House or Senate version of these aweful healthcare bills. We need to make some changes, bit not those kind of changes. Why are they going so fast with this. It took Obama six (6) months to decide on what kind of dog he was going to get. This is way more important than a dog ( I am a big animal lover). Enough is enough!

  88. Leslie Vincent says:

    Sen. Landrieu,
You may have gotten elected to represent the state of Louisiana, but you do not represent me. You do not represent the wishes of the majority of the people of this state. If you vote for these bills, you will be voting in opposition to the people that you “claim” to represent. Remember who elected you in the past. I did not vote for you, and I will not in the future, but the people who did will rise up and make their voices heard. You should listen now, and not wait until re-election time to get your rude awakening.

  89. kevin huddleston says:

I hope Bobby doesn’t get nominated for President because we can’t have your brother in the mansion.

  90. Elli Blaylock says:

    Senator Landrieu,

The Health Care Reform our legislation is promotting is not reform whatsoever…it is merely a disguise for socializing medicine and controlling our people further. True reform, I would agree to wholeheartedly, but not this farce you are trying to shove down our throats!

Why are the real facts not discussed? The amount of individuals who do have insurance…the amount of those who truly fall through the cracks. Why is it we are not discussing a way to make those that can afford to have insurance, pay for it…and those that can’t, have a benefit providied for them…and an effective way to enroll them?

Why are the Physiscians not paid on their actual capability to care for these Medicare/Medicaid insureds with incentives to provide wellness care and preventative care? Instead of on a “cattle” run basis, where there are no winners…both the provider and the insured loses.

Why are we led to believe our system is broke? We have the finest medical system, worldwide. The only thing we can be assured of getting once your reform is in place is “rationing”…access will be a thing of the past!

The only systems that are broken are the ones the government already take care of…such as Medicare or Social Security. Competion on the other hand in the private sector is what provides a sound basis for good business.

If the government wants to create Health Reform, why do you not empower those who know best how to run the system..the providors, the pharmaceutical companies, the hospitals, the consumers, and yes, even the actuaries. Have them, make decisions not based on their financial gain, but on the gain of all involved.

This plan may be simplistice in nature, but it sure beats the monstrous “skeleton” (to be filled in after the bill is passed) you are trying to get us to accept!

Again, why do we not figure out a way to insure those that are really the ones hurting…those that make too much to qualify for assiatnce but too little to afford coverage. Once we do this, we can then tackle, those who are not enrolled and yet are eligible for assistance. And set a way to enforce those who simply choose not to purchase, and if they fall sick “ride on the backs” of all of us who do pay!

This would be a step in the right direction!

  91. Jay says:

I wish you would tell me one thing that the government runs efficiently. You can’t do it!!! The Postal service, Social En-Security, Not so Well are Fare, $100 toilets, military men and women in Iraq without body armor, with families collecting money for their love ones vests. The list is endless. They really think they can do a better job. Please stop both Health Care Reform and Cap and Trade. We’re already paying for all of the worlds problems. It’s only fare if we’re all on the same page. No to Cap and Trade….

  92. James Thomas says:

I have already made my feelings known twice before in the petition, but I have one more small question. Does this stop here are will it be passed on to the members of congress that intend to pass the health bill as it stands, or will it die right here where we all have stated how we feel about the corrupt politician in our and other states stand. If there is a way you can try and get someone in the media to read just some of these comments on the air, maybe it would get through to some (if there are any) members of congress that give a damn about the poeple of our great country. I hope it is not to late for all of us, especially those in their senior years. I do not think I or anyone else could stand the stinch of burning and rotting flesh from the new ovens that will most likely be built in the near future.

  93. Ronald says:

    Senator Landrieu
It is time for you to support term limit. We need to get rid of the deadheads that have been
elected for too many terms. They stay elected too long and think they do not have to listen
to the people. As far as I’m concerned you have not represented Louisiana very good. You
swap votes for you to get your votes and the other politicians can get their vote. I am fed up
with the Democratic party, so I changed to Republican. I am encouraging family and friends
    to do the same

  94. Amy Roth says:

    Ms. Landrieu,

I look to you to vote against the cap and trade. Rising energy costs is not a way to dig out of this recession!
I also look to you to vote against the healthcare reform bill as it appears to be another spending bill and a way to put private insurance out of business.
    Looking for your support!

  95. David Shultz Jr says:

How anyone could thing that the proposed health care plan will improve health care is beyond me. Apparently, our elected officials think so highly of health care reform, they chose to exempt themselves. All of the Washington elite need to retire and get back in touch with the real world and learn what it is to be an everyday American again. I am tired of working my butt off for those that sit on theirs. There is lots of reform needed in American, but health care is not one of them.

  96. Alvin Mott says:

    Ms. Landrieu,

You must vote for the majority of the residence of YOUR STATE and not the majority of the DEMOCRAT PARTY!!! As of right now we still have a democracy. You should be fulfilling your duty as a senator, which is to represent, and vote against all of this garbage being shoved down our throats!!! We all want health insurance reform, but we don’t want socialized health care, single payer systems, “government co-ops”, etc.. We need free market solutions to solve this problem. With the exception of the military, the government has proven time and again that it cannot run anything right. Medicare and Medicaid are bankrupt. Social Security is bankrupt. I don’t want the federal government, or any government for that matter, coming between me and my physician when it comes to making choices for my health care!!!! This is clearly unconstitutional. History is a great teacher. Look at where the health care industry is at in England and Canada. Those citizens that can afford it come here for treatment, not the other way around.
I have two quick solutions that can be applied now that would help the crisis:

    1. Less government regulations on health insurance

-if you allow insurance companies to compete across state lines, that will allow for more competition, which will ultimately lower the cost for health insurance.
-tax incentatives: to encourage new health insurance companies to start up and do business. Again, more competition, less cost to consumers.

    2. TORT REFORM!!!!

-President Obama recently made the point that physicians conduct too many “unnecessary” tests. Well, there is a reason for that… If they don’t do these tests, the “Morris Bart’s” of the world will ultimately sue the health insurance company, hospital, physician, and anybody else remotely tied into that particular claim. The way is stands now, doctors have to do any and all tests on their patients in order to have a defense for these outlandish lawsuits.
-The best tort reform would be a true “loser pays” system. Attorneys these days know that if they have to file suit and lose, they are only going to be out of the court filing fees and any time they spent working on the case. Insurance companies are more likely to try to settle the claim out of court, even if the claim is bogus, because it is cheaper for them to do so than to fight it in court. If an “ambulance chasing attorney” (such as Morris Bart) knows that if they lose they will have to pay not only the court costs of the defendent, but also the saught-after punitive damages, I guarantee you that it will stop the vast majority of the frivilious law suits that are filed in this country everyday. That will drastically lower the malpractice insurance paid by physicians, which will trickle down to the consumer.

Ms. Landrieu, it is about time that our representatives in congress wake up and listen to the everyday American citizen. Most Americans voted for “hope and change” which has clearly not happened. If we continue on this course, we are all doomed. Please do the right thing and support the issues and values that will lead this country to rise, and not fall with the rest of the world.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Alvin Mott

  97. Nicole Donaldson says:

It looks like many of the above have stated what I feel so strongly about. Please opt for a health care reform plan that will actually encourage a better health care system and vote against the cap and trade. Thank you for all you do.

  98. Dr Ginger Shows says:

    Sen. Landrieu,

I have written to you before about the importance of voting against cap and trade for the interests of Louisiana and our natural gas and oil resources. Natural gas is inexpensive. cap and trade will only raise our monthly fuel costs. We need to make more use of nuclear fuel. You answered my letter and agreed on many points but didn’t tell me how you plan to vote.

The healthcare bill appears to have too much government between doctor and patient. I don’t like the idea of a patient being
denied a drug or operation because the government wants to try something more “cost effective.” I had a very bad experience
with an HMO director early in my career who refused my plan for immediate bypass surgery for a cardiac patient and chose a different route. The woman died. This the most extreme example of a poor result when someone behind a desk got between me and the care of my patient, but there were others. What we need is less intervention between patient and doctor.
There is no place for funding abortion on demand (without a medical reason) in this bill and it must be made clear that no doctor, nurse, or hospital will be punished for refusing to participate in abortions. In many towns in Louisiana, as you know, there are Catholic hospitals, and it would be objectionable to our religious beliefs to be forced to perform abortions. If these hospitals had to close, where would the people of your state go for healthcare?

Think about Louisiana. We elected you but you seem to be more interested in pleasing Obama and Harry Reid and the elite liberals who call us rednecks. Why, Mary? You and I are both New Orleans natives and have more in common than you have with them. I can remember when I was a little girl and your Dad was Mayor. Don’t disapoint me, vote NO on Cap ‘n Trade
and on any healthcare bill which interferes with doctor/patient decisions or funds abortiions.
Hope for your support and God Bless you

  99. Sarah S. says:

Please vote AGAINST the healthcare reform bill!

  100. Joseph Hue says:

    Ms. Landrieu
I have written to you in the past concerning the health care bill and Cap and Trade. I asked that you vote to defeat both of these bills. We have a very good health care system. Don’t fix anything that works. We need to find ways to provide health care to those who cannot afford it. Also, we need to look for ways to reduce the cost of health care. We DO NOT have to scrap our current health care system. I do not want socialized medical care with Washington running it.

Cap and Trade would ruin a large part of the economy of Louisiana. There are lots of ways to solve our energy needs without ruining the resources that we already have.

Thank you for your concerns for Louisiana. Please vote against these two bills and work with those who want real reform.

  101. Denise M. Champagne says:

From a daughter of a kidney dialysis patient, I stand firm in believing that healthcare is extremely important to the elderly. My Father is 68 years old, has worked since the age of 13, who has worked over 30 years on a sugarcane farm is now under doctors care weekly. Is he not important anymore now that he can no longer work? Has he been forgotten because he no longer contributes to the system as an employee? What happens to those who, like my Father, cannot afford medical costs. Does this mean that his life is no longer important to society? I think that the President’s plan needs to be looked out more closely. Doesn’t the President have elderly family members? I doubt that he will forget about them. Of course, in his situation, I guess money is not a problem. But it is a problem for those who can no longer work; not because they do not want to work, but because their health no longer allows them to work. If it were not for the health plans that are in existence today, my Father who has worked for everything he has, would no longer be with me. He would not be here for me to ask for wise advise nor a loving hug…

  102. Chris Foosman says:

FOX News told me this is bad and I believe it! I know they never lie and all the other news sources are slanted, but not FOX News. I love Rush Limbaugh! When I’m not holed up in my house behind all my mattresses with all the guns Nobama wants to take from me I’m out protesting Mandingo!
    Thanks for supporting this!

  103. Patsy Muniz says:

Sen.Landrieu, Please while you are off for this recess take the time to read this bill on health care and especiallly page 425 i wrote you on your website to vote no on this bill.Stand up for the people of louisiana. I am a registered democrat but plan on changing to the republican party because i cant stand how the democrats are doing they are afraid to stand up against the president, and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Ried. I have never been active in politics i vote but this has made me sick.

  104. Robert J Langley says:

How many more violations to the Constitution must we tolerate? We have representation empowered to “protect us from enemies, both foreign and domestic”, yet no one has challenged these socialistic programs. We are being classified as “un-American” because we do not accept what is being imposed on us. If our congressional leaders were in line for this health program too I would think more of it. It is second rate to the program WE pay for the very same lawmakers to enjoy. I suggest that Congress utilize the health care program, as is, for a full term before voting on anything for us. Please don’t vote for this simply because the President told you to do so. Remember, he also works for us., the American People. Yes, the very same ones that must provide proof of citizenship to find gainful employment.

  105. [...] Not to worry, we’re back up and running so if you weren’t able to sign on before – sign the petition TODAY. [...]

  106. Ava Earl says:

    Ms. Landreau,
Thank you for being a listener! Thank you for not supporting a government run Health Care Option!
Keep listening to us. We are not a bunch of hysterical right wing extreamest. We are the tax payers who keep this country running. We are the people who vote and care about our towns, state, and country….You get this! Why doesn’t our president?

  107. Karen Russell says:

To All Democrat and Republican Senators and Representatives:
Obama and his liberal policies are taking us down a path towards socialism and the time to speak up is now. I am voicing my concerns to you because you represent me!

I am begging you to reject government-run health care and the job-killing energy tax known as “Cap and Trade.” We do need to manage our healthcare system in a more frugal way, but this is NOT the way we should do it. How about coming up with a way to curb frivolous litigation against healthcare professionals? That would be an effective way to help all concerned, including insurance companies. Speaking of insurance companies, how about coming up with something that would open up the purchase of health insurance nationwide rather than restricted by state as it is now?

There are other ways besides what Obama is proposing.

By the way, while you’re at it please tell everyone in Washington, especially those who have stooped to name-calling, that I am a registered nurse, which last time I checked required a college degree. I am NOT an “idiot,” I am NOT associated with any “angry mob,” and I am about as American as a person can be (not “un-American” as referred to by Nancy Pelosi).

I’d also prefer that someone in your office respond to me by letting me know that YOU have seen and acknowledged my concerns in this short note.

    Thank You,
    Karen Russell, RN
    A Registered Democrat

  108. DonDe says:

Sen. Landrieu, Its time for you to stand up for Louisiana and its people who elected you to office. Which by the way, I don’t know how that happened. Vote NO on the health care plan, cap and trade, and taking jobs away from Americans in this Great Country. The State of Louisiana is Watching all of you. I am willing to bet that we see you stand up and fight when Obama decides to get rid of your jobs or he tells you that he is going to reform your Health Care Plan. Like Hilter, he will get to that point. Its only a matter of time. Stand up and fight for the people and the country….. OR…..You can quit your job and move to Russia, or Iran, and when you go…..Take Pelosi and Ried with you. PS: Don’t forget Obama. One Big A– Mistake America. I bet you all see it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  109. Rick Mills says:

    Common sense reform.
Tort reform. Take the easy money lawsuits away from the ambulance chasers.
Allow individuals and companies to buy health insurance nationally instead of mandating everyone buy from in-state companies only.
Common sense regulations on insurance companies to bring sanity to pricing.
For those that still cannot afford insurance have small, clean and efficient free clinics in needed areas of cities. For treatment that cannot be provided by the free clinics, patients could be referred to a nearby hospital with the government picking up the bill.
Only emergency treatment provided by emergency rooms. Non-emergencies referred to the nearest free clinic. No lawsuit liability against the hospital, doctors or staff if guidelines are followed in referring individual to free clinic.

DO NOT TAKE OVER THE ENTIRE SYSTEM BECAUSE A SMALL PERCENTAGE ARE UNABLE TO GET COVERAGE.

  110. I will begin by thanking you Senator Appel for an out standing letter to Senator Landrieu concerning very important issues, not only for Louisiana but the Country. I am 63 and bewildered by the Obama administration blatant disregard to Americans voice. The socialist atmosphere from the White House is disturbing and a travesty to the constitution. Our Fore-Father give we the people, this important document that we might enjoy the freedom and prosperity of this new Country, at the same time warned us of Government to large. I served my Country and love my Country but today I am ashamed. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  111. Nick says:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The United States of America is the greatest country in the world, ditto it’s medical system. Why allow government takeover. Fix the problem don’t reinvent the wheel.

  112. SNUFFY McCARTNEY says:

    STOP OBAMACIDE!

  113. Lisa Irion says:

I think the federal government is wiping their butts with our Constitution, intruding on our state’s rights and grossly overstepping their bounds. Louisiana should be in lock step with Texas in asserting our sovereignty and saying “No Thanks” to all this federal government intrusion of our private lives.

  114. Charlene Loup says:

I do not think a health care should be imposed on the people, that the government won’t take themselves. The people are tired of this country falling to pieces. We need someone to run this country that knows what he’s doing. The people are tax poor,& now we are being shoved this crap. I am happy with the health care that i have. Thank You:

  115. Steve Graves says:

Take your hands off my health care (or pay the political price).

  116. Kathy Hudson says:

    Senator Landrieu.

Enough is enough. We ask that you support the wishes of the voters of Louisiana. Thank you.

  117. Amy Ohlenforst says:

Come on People, stop running around working or being to busy to know what is going on or be in denial, step up to the plate & put an end to this Stop Obama & all of his brainwashings to control America & everything else. We do not want to be robots, come on people? Is this God’s natural way? I dont think so. Sickening. Get your ammo.

  118. Matthew P. Marsiglia says:

Here is the text of an email I sent to the White House using the flag@whitehouse.gov:

I am attaching the house bill HR3200. It is the fishiest thing I have seen on the web regarding health care reform. This bill is an insult to all U.S. citizens and must be stopped. I am not a part of any organization, mob or other “un-American” group. I am a citizen and as such have the right of free speech, the right to address my Members of Congress and I intend to do so. I also have the right to discuss this legislation with other citizens and point out the faults and dangers of the proposed legislation. Any attempt by the White House, the Obama administration or Members of Congress to restrict that right will be opposed.

Feel free to add me to your enemies list. I will not be intimidated by President Obama, Nancy Pelosi or any other Member of Congress or any administration official.

    Sincerely,

    Matthew Marsiglia

I encourage other citizens to send similar emails to the flag@whitehous.gov email address!

I also encourage everyone to take a look at HR 45, the next legislation designed to restrict our rights. This legislation will create a Federal database of all gun owners and also provides for the Feds to come into your home to see how you are storing your guns. This bill must also be opposed.

  119. ALL CONGRESSIONALS…………JUST GIVE US THE HEALTH PLAN ,,,THAT YOU NOW ENJOY … AND JUST WATCH YOUR TROUBLES GO AWAY…………………….HUH?????????????????????????

  120. Marlene Stelly says:

The government shall make no laws from which they are exempt!

  121. Kay Schabilion says:

VOTE NO!!! Don’t let this”Nazi” push us REAL AMERICANS around anymore. He’s leading us to the slaughterhouse! Everyone should be SCARED!!! REALLY SCARED!!

  122. Pamela Hoyt says:

    Sen. Landrieu and Congressman Melancon,

You readily backed Barrack Obama for President. You’re commitment at the time was to your party, not the people of this state. I have received emails from you Senator and now you would have us to believe that you are a “Centrist”. A Centrist who is Pro-Abortion, pro-gay marriage, more liberal than you are now willing to admit. My husband and I own a small construction company, at one time we employed 30 people, but over the past 5 months my husband was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and with no health insurance and unable to be approved for even a medicaid spend down program, we are now about to lose everything we own. I have been fighting the SSA for 5 years now, trying to get back my own money that I paid in since I was 15 years old. I have Degenerative Disc Disease, Fibromyalgia, Rhuematoid Arthritis and Lupus. I was forced to go back to work part time 3 months ago in order to be able to continue to see my Doctor and take my costly medications. I have had my Congressman (Dr. Bill Cassidy contact SS and Senator Vitter, who both agree this situation is ridiculous. The SSA will fight you and fight you until you are forced to work just to keep a roof over your head and then they turn you down because you’ve been forced to go back to work. WASHINGTON IS NUTS!!! Louisiana is being made a mockery of right now because of ACORN being located right here in our state and not one of our so called Leaders will do anything about this disgusting group of people. I think its time for the people of Louisiana to start sending out “pink slips” to our politicians who are liberal when in Washington and then call themselves “Blue Dogs” or “Centrists” when they realize their jobs are on the line. All I can say is it is now time to “PROVE YOURSELF” to your voters! NOT TO WASHINGTON ELITE! Nancy Pelosi calls us “UnAmerican” simply because we have a voice and we choose to use it. Liberals and Left Wingers protest over anything and everything, but when Conservatives rise up, we are called, “UnAmerican???” Time to put up or shut up!

  123. Richard Ryan says:

WE do not want Obama Care in Louisiana!!!! Vote No !!!!!!

  124. Vinicio E. Madrigal,MD says:

Our system is in need of repairs, but there is no reason to destroy what has been the best health care delivery system in the world. Take a look at very pertinent statistics and see what could be in store if we allow Obama and his party to destroy what has taken centuries to build.
Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Prostate cancer mortality is 604 percent higher in the United Kingdom and 457 percent higher in Norway. The mortality rate for colorectal cancer among British men and women is about 40 percent higher.
All of the abobe not withstanding, we can not have health reform if we do not first address : Fraud and Malpractice reform. Likewise, all of us must learn that there are simple things we could do to enhance our health.
Only, looking at those issues will we be able to start a meaningful and ver low cost form, of health reform. It will involve all of us and provide us all with incentives and benefits.

    Vinicio E. Madrigal, MD

  125. Jo Ann Wall says:

I am against government take over of the health care system.
Big government is taking our freedom away. It’s all about control
has nothing to do with helping to care for the American people.
As a taxpayer for some 42 years, seeing the waste of taxpayers’ money
on programs that support those who haven’t paid into the system
yet taking from the system curls my toes.

When individuals learn they must take care of themselves and not depend
on BIG government to do it life in America will return to an environment
where we as American’s can truly grow. It’s about taking charge of your own
life and not expecting anyone or any government to take care of self.
This is a simple math problem. I’m don’t understand why government wants
to make it so hard with pages and pages and pages of guidelines.
Govenment wants to complicate it to confuse us of what it is proposing.

  126. elizabeth miller says:

I think it is time that our political leaders start living like the citizens that they represent. They should all pay into the Social Security like the majority of the American citizens do, and not get any special treatment because they are our voices in government. I want to elaborate on who should be getting Social Security. AMERICAN CITIZENS ONLY!

  127. Michael L. says:

Please do not vote in favor of a government-run health care plan or cap and trade. These are not the type of laws that will benefit the citizens of our state. Both of these proposals will stifle our businesses and lead to higher taxes, higher energy bills and less jobs in Louisiana. The majority of tax-paying citizens in our state do not approve of this!

  128. Jo Land says:

No Nancy, we we are not Natzi’s trying to cause trouble.WE ARE AMERICANS!. We are defending our individual right according to the Delcarations our forefathers fought for.If your healthcare plan is so good then everyone including congress should be on it.Or, could we be troublemakers because we have the right to question a house of people that we elected ( most will not be if they vote for this plan).
By the way , have you figured out why people come from Canada for healthcare? Or do we tell them to go to the end of the line, and if they are old enough maybe you can councel them on how to die with dignity!

  129. Harold H says:

Before any heath care is enacted, the president, all members of his admistration, all members of Congress and their staffs should begin payin $3000 per month for the health they receive. Do I have to tell who’s paying for it now?

  130. William Faulk says:

Enough already! You are spending our country into oblivion and putting us into real danger of losing all resemblance of a free republic. Cease all support and co-operation with the Obama administration and the gang of czars he has hired to change the US into a socialist police state. We do not exaggerate the danger here!

God bless every one standing up to resist this insanity.

  131. Jerrie Abshire says:

    Dear Senator Landrieu

Though I would be one most likely to benefit from nationalized health care, I have to say that the idea alarms me on several levels. The most obvious one is the poor quality of health care the government ALREADY offers to the indigent. What incentive does the government have to improve? None! The message is: “You don’t like our FREE services? Get a job so you can afford better! Beggars can’t be choosers, you know!” The problem with nationalizing that attitude is that, once it is implemented, NOBODY – not just beggars – will be able to choose anything different.

Please consider removing your support for this piece of legislation.

    Jerrie Abshire

  132. Elward Ehli says:

Wake up you Jesus freak hypocit Republicons………Fear mongering self righteous asses!!!!
Colition for a Christian Free Jew free and Muslim free society lol

  133. Shirley Mooty says:

Something has to stop this terrorist from ruining our beautiful AMERICA. Please don’t let them pass all these crazy laws into effect. If it wern’t for the old people you wouldn”t be where you are. Its time for you to stand up and fight for us. We worked hard on getting this nation to where it was except for the last 10 years or so. Now we just go down hill every day. Come on people wake up.

  134. WANT ALL OF YOUR TROUBLES TO GO AWAY……………HUH?????? THEN LETS ALL OF YOU IN WASHINGTON……..GET ON OUR PLAN OR LET US GET ON YOURS………..AND WHHHIIIOOOOOSSSSSS!!!!! WORRIES GONE BOOD BYE………………………………

  135. I will not insult you as you have been above. I will say as so many others have that things have to change. You can no longer blame President Bush as you had the majority before he ever left office. I am upset about a number of things, but most important to me is social security and illegals. They can drawl on it and yet it may not be there for me.

My husband has a Federal Retirement and we use it for health insurance and life insurance. Plus now we have to pay an extra fifty dollars a month for coverage that has gone done in benefits. We do not get even a dime.

I would like to ask you to take your time and think carefully. I was so happy when Pelosi became the first woman House Speaker. Now I am ashamed. Please do not vote along parties lines just because it is the thing to do. It will affect you in the long run. I really believe that you have what is best for us in your heart. Please vote that way. A lot of people on both sides will be watching.

  136. Cheryl S. says:

Please vote NO to Cap & Trade and Health Care Reform.

As an RN for over 18 years I am fearful of this government. I am scared Senator! This is the first time in my life that I fear the future for myself and more so for my children and their children. I do not trust our government to “reform” healthcare. Every step, every move this administration makes is more about control than change. We The People have awaken and we don’t like what is being forced down our throats. I want the government out of my backyard, and not involved in my healthcare decisions! Period. I agree we do need reform, but not the kind Obama is trying to ram through. Please, I beg you to step up to the plate and listen to the people of your State.

    Sincerely,
    Cheryl S.

  137. Mark B. says:

    Dear Congressman Melacon:

Take the time to watch James Stewart in ‘Mr. Smith Goes To Washington’, 1939, and do some self-searching.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Smith_Goes_to_Washington

  138. Marie R. says:

Most famillies can fit health insurance in their budget, if they did’t spend on frivolous items like latte’s, cigarettes, or alcohol. I manage to pay a $450 premium on a very limited income. There is also Medicaid for those who are truly indigent or pretend to be by scamming the system.

If my finances were as critical as the federal government’s, I would want to commit suicide. The government is making all of us fearful and putting us in survival mode. This irrational spending has to stop, as we know it cannot continue without dire consequences for our economic formula as we know it.

Something also has to be done to slow our population, such as not making it rewarding to be an unwed mother. Women are not getting married because, if they did, the government would not pay for the childbirth or aftercare. Immigrants included. Check out these figures in the cost of health care.

The more I think about it, the bigger the mess seems to be. I want Ozzie and Harriet back.

  139. Gloria Farrister says:

To ALL OF OUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES,

Please vote NO to Health Reform and Cap & Trade.

I do not think that it is right for the tax payers to have to pay for all these illegal immigrants to be allowed to draw social security and have free healthcare and Do Not have to pay taxes, this is wrong. Whatever happened to America being a FREE COUNTRY!! this seems to be a thing of the past. America needs to get back to the basics and let the Lord Jesus guide our leaders in the way this country should go and not let people from other countries actually call the shots. Thank you for allowing us to let you know how we feel. VOTE NO

  140. Myra says:

You are elected by the people. You should vote for issues that reflect the people. You are voting for your party and only for that reason. Wake up. You may have been in office for a while, but we are fed up with the government. We can not afford the Health Care Plan. The Pro-ads are being paid for by the Pharmacutical Industry. What does that tell you? Somebody will get rich off this bill and it won’t be the hard working American People. Listen to us, vote NO. The Cap n Trade bill is absoutely horrible. It benefits no one but special interest groups. Our electric bills and cost of gasoline will sky rocket in the next year. Other countries were smart enough to vote no on this bill. Again, the government is doing what ever it can to help it’s self and screwing the people. Be very careful, reelection is not that far away. I am a registered Democrat, but that will be changing soon!

  141. spencer s. says:

The people say to vote no to this bill.

  142. Rose Broadway says:

For once, listen to us! We the people want “NO” part of your so called Health Care Reform and Cap and Trade.

  143. Listen to the people and vote NO to this bill. Healthcare REFORM is needed but a government run public option is a living/dying nightmare! Do the right thing for us and say NO.

  144. Roland Suire says:

Vote no to cap & trade & health care reform!!!!!!!!!!

  145. Suzanne Heath says:

Please listen to the majority & vote NO to healthcare reform (as laid out as a government run public option).

  146. Harold H says:

Vote NO to government run healthcare reform and to Cap & Trade. I’ve studied these bills and found too many flaws that would literally destroy our state & country. Change for the sake of change is not right! Please vote NO to both. Healthcare reform takes bipartisan agreement in order for it to work. Also, Congress needs to be onboard to accept the same personal healthcare plan as all americans would be forced to accept. Changes need to be made in Congress if these bills pass! Vote No to both. Thank you.

  147. Karen Russell says:

On August 12, 2009 I sent the following note addressed to ALL Democrat and Republican Senators and Representatives (especially Senator Mary Landrieu and Representative Charlie Melancon). I’ve mailed at least ten (10) letters to all Louisiana Senators and Representatives; I’ve not received any responses to these either. Here goes again – - -

Since the day Obama took office of the United States of America Presidency, he has told us by word and deed that he wants to rewrite the Constitution of our great nation. He says he is for REDISTRIBUTION OF WEATH….Marxism/Socialism…Gov. takeover of Healthcare–Marxism/Socialism/Communism…forcing people to buy something with penalty of fines and jail if we don’t comply…anti-Constitutional. We elected this charismatic black man with Rock Star mentality…Are we afraid to have a black man be evil, now that we see his motives? Wake up America. Obamanation has got to be stopped!!!
