One year ago today, Charlie Melancon voted for the House version of the failed $825 billion so-called “stimulus” bill. This big government spending mentality of Charlie Melancon, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama has passed on massive amounts of debt to future generations and has failed to stem the loss of jobs.
“One year ago Charlie Melancon and the liberals in Congress assured us they could fix the recession with their “stimulus” bill, and Melancon went one step further by guaranteeing that it would save or create 50,000 jobs in Louisiana” said Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere, Jr. “Thanks to initiatives at the state at local level, Louisiana’s economy has outpaced the national economy, but the fact that the “stimulus” plan has been a big government boondoggle that has not reduced our nation’s unemployment rate cannot be denied. Despite the promises of liberal Democrats like Charlie Melancon and Barack Obama, their reckless and wasteful spending is not prescription for economic growth.”
The non-partisan Congressional Budget office said this week that the President’s spending agenda is completely unsustainable. The projected 2010 federal deficit will be the second largest in our nation’s history. The largest was 2009, Obama’s first year as President. Charlie Melancon votes with Obama 84% of the time.
