NEW POLL
Vitter Leads 53% – 35% Over Melancon
Baton Rouge - Rasmussen Reports released their latest poll for the Louisiana Senate race this morning showing Sen. David Vitter leading 53% to 35% over Rep. Charlie Melancon. Vitter continues to maintain a commanding lead and high approval rating of 62 percent.
“Senator David Vitter’s consistent and commanding double-digit lead, coupled with his strong approval rating, is further evidence that Louisiana voters want a senator who will stand up to President Obama and his congressional cronies,” said Republican Party of Louisiana Communications Director Aaron Baer. “Melancon’s desperate and misleading attacks have made absolutely no difference with Louisiana voters who recognize Melancon for who he is – a big spending, big government, Obama enabling liberal.”

Louisiana’s race for the U.S. Senate looks largely the same way it has since the beginning of the year, with incumbent Republican David Vitter continuing to earn over 50% of the vote in a state with unusually high Tea Party membership.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Louisiana finds Vitter, who is seeking a second six-year term, with 53% support. His Democratic challenger, Congressman Charlie Melancon, picks up 35% of the vote. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.
