Built By Us

Posted in Press Releases Posted by Administrator on Jul 24, 2012

Last week, President Obama said the following at a campaign rally: “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made it happen.” President Obama is wrong, Americans DO build businesses on their own.

After four years of broken promises and failed economic policies, we deserve a president who understands the hard work and sacrifices made by so many Americans to build the small business that are the heart and soul of our economy.

It’s time to fight back, and it’s time to tell President Obama he got it wrong. To do this, we need to hear your story.

Whether you’re a small business owner, someone who has made sacrifices to get ahead, or you’ve worked hard to make ends meet, we want President Obama to hear about how you have fought to make a better life for yourself. Please visit our Facebook page to share your story about how you built your business or about how you’ve fought to get ahead in life.

My family and I have our own story. My wife and I started our business 43 years ago. We worked hard for decades to build what we have today. Along the way, my sons joined the company and many of our family members and friends have worked to help build our business. But guess who didn’t help? That’s right. Barack Obama didn’t help. And the government didn’t help. They just fought us and taxed us every step of the way. We built our business…not the government. I assume your family has similar stories. I look forward to hearing them.

President Obama puts his faith in big government and handouts. We put our faith in the hard work of Louisianians and we know Mitt Romney will too.

Share your story with us here. We’ll share a select few with the Romney Campaign and together we will show Barack Obama how our economy really works. Come November, together we’ll elect a president who will put his faith back in the hard working Americans who make this country so great.

Sincerely,

Roger Villere
Chairman
Republican Party of Louisiana

PS. If you share your story on our Facebook page by posting a comment or by sharing a link of you telling your story on YouTube, we’ll pass it along to the Romney campaign and you could be featured on a new website or even in the next Romney web ad or TV commercial.

  1. Roger,
You got it wrong – it was not about building business – it was about building the Infrastructure of the United States – which is where Obama was totally wrong. The Internet, Electric Distribution, Port Systems, Highways, Piping for Liquids and Gas, – these are the systems that BUSINESS did Build! – And Small Business supported big business in doing so.

AND – this is where the Democrats have missed the boat – the infrastructure of the United States is failing (with exception of Internet – which is not built by Government – but private businesses). The roads, railroad, ports, electrical distribution system, as well as most other infrastructures of the country are failing – which means – lowering the potential for Business Growth. What company moves to an area with poor infrastructure?

We need a leader in the White House and an Administration that understands how business grows – you don’t throw money at it – you support business through building foundations which all businesses may use and benefit. The last Depression in the US finally eased when congress realized they needed to build infrastructure so businesses could grow. The present administration believes that they can bribe the public and businesses with money – and “wish” they would grow. They want people dependent upon the government to control votes.

The Democratic Mantra: “If you want to continue receiving your money then vote for me! – If you want to go to work, build self-respect and make money on your own – then vote for them!”

FYI – I was the Director of Small Business Development for Northern California – I went to Washington to discuss small business issues with the California congressional members. I have nightmares about my one-on-one visit with Rep Nancie Pelosi – where she told me: “The Democrats don’t have an agenda or programs for small business owners” This was in 2005. Now those same Democrats control the Senate and White House – and stall the House in any way they can to limit the potential of Small Business Owners.

I lived 2006-2010 in Melbourne Australia – the one country that survived the past economic downturn. And now that I’m back home in Lafayette (I’m 6th generation – and grew up with the Boustany’s) – I’m going to let my voice be heard.

I think the Louisiana GOP should ask ALL Louisiana Business Owners to raise their voice. Or the Obama Regime will take it away.

    Thank you!
    Blake

  2. Tara Crooks says:

My husband and I are co-owners of a family business which specializes in residential construction work (home improvement) and some commercial work (additions/modifications/demolition work). We started this company 7 years ago and we have had struggles every step of the way. One of our biggest hindrances is the amount of tax we are required to pay, both on the state and federal levels. I want Mr. Obama to know that we are persevering, in SPITE of the Federal government, and in the face of the Government’s anti-small business policies. It is not easy, we are not rich people. But we are making a living the honest way…and yes, Mr. President, we DID build this! With no help from you or any other government agency…
