We have completed the process of collecting the original ballots and tally sheets and have now certified the results.

Fellow Republicans,

We have completed the process of collecting the original ballots and tally sheets and have now certified the results. No outcomes changed as a result of this process. There was a seven way tie for the final two delegate spots in Congressional District 4. To break the tie, a drawing was held at the state party headquarters today in front of several witnesses.

The final winners are listed here. They are listed in the order of votes received.

In accordance with the convention rules, the delegates from each congressional district will meet via conference call on Saturday. Conference calls for Congressional Districts 1, 2 and 3 will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Congressional Districts 4, 5 and 6 will have their conference calls at 5 p.m. on Saturday. Each elected member of the delegation will be receiving more information about the conference calls tomorrow including the call-in number and PIN.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact our office.

Sincerely,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 24, 2012
Contact: Jason Doré
225-389-4495

Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger Villere Congratulates Rick Santorum on Finishing First in the Louisiana Republican Primary

Rick Santorum had a strong first place finish with 49.07 percent of the vote in the Louisiana Republican Primary according to the unofficial election results released by the Louisiana Secretary of State. Mitt Romney followed in 2nd place with 26.62 percent. Newt Gingrich came in third with 15.92 percent of the vote. Ron Paul finished in fourth place with 6.15 percent.

“Congratulations to Rick Santorum on his victory,” said Republican Party of Louisiana Chairman Roger F. Villere Jr. “The results show Rick Santorum’s conservative message strongly resonated with Louisiana Republican voters. Louisiana Republicans clearly want a conservative alternative to Barack Obama.”

Louisiana was thrust into the national spotlight this week as the Louisiana Republican Primary became a key contest in the hotly contested Republican Presidential race. Over the past two weeks, all four presidential candidates made multiple campaign stops throughout the state of Louisiana.

“The eyes of Republicans all over America are on Louisiana tonight,” Villere said. “Thank you to all the Republican candidates for personally reaching out to Louisiana voters and doing the hard work to make Barack Obama a one-term president.”

In accordance with the rules of the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party of Louisiana, tonight’s primary winners competed for 20 of Louisiana’s at-large delegates proportionally based on the outcome. Candidates must have received a minimum of 25 percent of the primary vote in order to be allocated delegates.

Based upon the unofficial election results from the Secretary of State, Rick Santorum has won 10 delegates with 49.07% of the vote. Mitt Romney came in second with 5 delegates with 26.62% of the vote. Both Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul did not meet the threshold of 25% of voters required in order to garner delegates. As a result, neither Gingrich or Paul will be allocated delegates and five of the twenty delegates will go uncommitted to the National Convention.

Louisiana will send a total of 46 delegates and 43 alternates to the Republican National Convention. Delegates will be elected at the 2012 Louisiana Republican Convention in Shreveport in June. State convention delegates will be elected at district caucuses which will be held on April 28 in 30 locations across Louisiana.

In today’s Republican Primary, 186,377 Louisiana Republicans cast their vote. In the 2008 Preference Primary, 161,169 Republicans participated.

It is critically important for Louisiana's future that we elect more conservative reformers to the State House and State Senate who will work with us to streamline government, keep taxes low, and produce the economic conditions that will create jobs for our people.

Louisiana has come a long way toward our goal of being the best place in the world to raise a family, get a great education, and pursue a rewarding career – but there is still much work to be done – and I need your help.

It is critically important for Louisiana’s future that we elect more conservative reformers to the State House and State Senate who will work with us to streamline government, keep taxes low, and produce the economic conditions that will create jobs for our people.

To achieve these goals I’ve asked the LA GOP to establish a statewide Victory Fund specifically for electing members of the state Legislature. Unlike other efforts, the LA GOP’s Victory Fund can coordinate directly with targeted campaigns to spread our conservative message and get-out-the-vote for our targeted candidates to win elections. Already, we’ve raised $700,000 for this initiative and with your help we will reach our target of $2 million to be put toward electing conservative state representatives and state senators this fall.

Please join me today, and help elect conservative reformers to the state Legislature by making a generous contribution of $500, $250, $100, or just $25 today.

With your support I’m confident that together we can elect legislative leaders this fall who will work to improve education, reform our healthcare system, reduce government spending and create the jobs our people need to make Louisiana the best place in the world to build a career and raise a family.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our state and for your continued support.

On February 19th Republicans can elect the first GOP majority in the State Senate since Reconstruction

State Representative Jonathan Perry is running in the special election this month for Senate District 26 and he needs your support!

Rep. Perry is a tested and proven conservative whose record in the State House has earned him honors from the Louisiana Family Forum and the Chamber Southwest Louisiana.

Watch Perry’s latest campaign advertisement on YouTube:

You can learn more about him by visiting his website at www.Perry4Louisiana.com, following him on Twitter, or connecting with him on Facebook.

The State Senate is currently all tied up with 19 Democrats and 19 Republicans. A big win for Jonathan on February 19th would give the GOP control of State Senate for the first time in more than 100 years – but we cannot do it without your help.

How Can You Help?

Senate District 26 is composed of parts Acadia, Lafayette, and St. Landry Parishes and ALL of Vermillion Parish. If you live in this district – GO Vote! Not sure if you live in the district? Click here to find out.

Early Voting began on February 5th and concludes on February 12th. Early voting runs from 8:30am to 6pm and you can find your early voting location by clicking here.

There is still work to be done even if you don’t live in Senate District 26. Call your friends who live in SD 26, sign-up to volunteer for Perry’s campaign or send him a generous contribution to help him spread his conservative message.

Our party is just days away from electing another conservative Republican state senator who will fight reign in reckless spending, keep taxes low, and fight for our conservative principles.

With your help – and only with your help – we can make history!

An article in today’s Politico discusses Governor Palin’s efforts to help elect Republican candidates across the country.

I get a lot of calls/questions about Governor Palin since the 2010 SRLC, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to make a quick comment.

As most of you know the 2010 SRLC was the largest Republican Leadership Conference in over 30 years – with more speakers, more press and more attendees than ever before.

I interacted with every major GOP personality in the country leading up to the conference and can tell you first hand that the only thing different about Governor Palin was the intensity of the interest from the attendees, sponsors and even other speakers.

Governor Palin’s staff was incredibly easy to deal with and very professional.

She’s easily the most requested surrogate our party has and it’s a shame that Republicans would rather gripe that they can’t get more of her time instead of being appreciative of everything that she does do.
